About
Having opened in November 2024, Mercarta Gallery has brought a fresh and dynamic presence to Melbourne’s art scene, showcasing a carefully curated selection of exceptional Italian, French and Australian art in a dedicated and inviting space.
Founders Marina Klose and Peter Reeve bring their unique perspectives to the gallery, blending Marina’s extensive background as a painter trained at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) with Peter’s passion as an avid art collector and enthusiast.
Mercarta Gallery aims to provide an inclusive space where both emerging and established artists from Italy, France and Australia can be celebrated. The gallery will feature a diverse range of works, offering a rich cultural experience for art lovers, collectors, and those seeking to enrich their spaces with thought-provoking art. Marina and Peter’s frequent travels across Italy and France enable them to handpick pieces that represent the finest European artistry, making these works accessible to the Australian market.
At Mercarta, the focus will be on creating a meaningful connection between art and its audience. The gallery seeks to not only present art but to foster an environment where visitors can engage deeply with the stories and inspirations behind each piece. Through exhibitions, events, and artist representation, Mercarta will offer a dynamic and evolving experience, highlighting both contemporary and traditional approaches to art.
In addition to presenting exceptional works for sale, the gallery will also offer art classes, art rental services, personalised art consulting, and curated selections to help individuals and businesses find the perfect pieces for their spaces. The goal is to make high-quality art available to as many people as possible, creating positive and enriching outcomes for both the public and the artists.
We welcome your interest, participation, and feedback as Mercarta Gallery embarks on this exciting journey. Join us in celebrating the beauty of Italian and French art in the heart of Melbourne.
